2004 CANDIDATE FOR MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL

CITY OF MOORPARK

 

NAME: Roseann Mikos AGE: 56 (by election day)

 

OCCUPATION:                    Incumbent

 

 

BACKGROUND: Educator and businesswoman—33+ years working with Fortune 500 companies/U.S. Military; teaching; and educational grant writing. Baccalaureate, (Saint Louis University); Masters, Ph.D. (USC).

 

COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE: 23˝ year Moorpark homeowner; Councilmember (2000-2004), Mayor Pro Tem (2002); Docent, Happy Camp Canyon Park since 1991; Advisory Committee Member, Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy (2001-2004).

 

ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Obtained grants for Moorpark College/Moorpark’s schools worth over $2,500,000; voted for Moorpark Marketplace to improve shopping; supported “Old Towne” High Street Fire Station, new Police Services Center, Community Services Complex, Theatre on High, new/expanded downtown parks; voted for affordable and senior housing; awarded 2004 Community Action Star Award from California/Nevada Community Action Partnership for leadership in assisting low income families; co-wrote and led passage of Moorpark SOAR (Save Open-space and Agricultural Resources).

 

I SUPPORT: keeping Moorpark a small, safe town and working to make ours an even better community; promoting open communication/inclusive participation by residents; improving traffic safety, attracting good quality stores/restaurants, preserving Moorpark’s semi-rural flavor.

 

I will NOT accept campaign contributions from developers.

 

I am the ONE candidate most responsible for making it possible for you, the voters, to directly decide the fate of the North Park Village/Hidden Creek project.
