Moorpark Redevelopment Agency & Eminent Domain

Please share your views on this issue (below). Unfortunately, there has been much misinformation that has been printed in local news media and circulated in the community about eminent domain in the Moorpark Redevelopment Agency (MRA) Project Area.

Sincere people are rightfully concerned to guard against any abuse of eminent domain--anywhere.  However, the MRA has never even used eminent domain, therefore it has never abused eminent domain either.  Most people are not aware of this fact.

I would be happy to discuss this in detail with any residents who wish to learn more about it; and why, in very rare instances, it could be an important tool to use to help (not to harm) the community and its residents.  Call me any time at 805-529-3216.

The MRA has done many projects over the years to work toward revitalizing downtown.  See this powerpoint presentation for examples of projects that have been completed todate toward downtown revitalization or that are in the planning stages (as of August 2006).  [NOTE: You may need PowerPoint software to view this presentation.  It is large, so it could take time to load.  When it opens, just click to advance each "slide" so that you can go at your own pace to see the presentation.]
